Why Vinyl?

Vinyl windows compare favorably to those of other building materials like wood and aluminum, as they hold their quality and cost less to produce. Their low maintenance and excellent thermal efficiency ratings give vinyl windows an edge over other types of materials. Simonton's vinyl compound is produced with extra levels of UV inhibitors to help withstand harsh weather conditions, and it is recyclable and environmentally friendly. Window Styles

Double Hung – Both sashes on double-hung windows open fully.
Single Hung – Top sash remains fixed, while bottom sash opens.
Double Slider – Both sashes open and close by gliding from side to side.
Single Slider – One sash opens and closes by gliding from side to side, while the other remains fixed.
Three-Lite Slider – Ideal for wide openings, the three-lite slider/end-vent slider features two operable sashes with a fixed center sash.
Casement – Sashes are hinged on the side and crank open a full 90 degrees* for maximum ventilation.
Awning – Sashes are hinged on top and crank out and upward.
Picture – Picture windows are fixed and do not open or close.
Geometrics – Geometrics are fixed windows available in stylish shapes.
Bay – Created by mulling three windows at either 30- or 45-degree angles.
Bow – More rounded in appearance than a bay, bow windows feature windows mulled at 10-degree angles.
Garden Window – Garden windows feature functional casement sidelites and create a sunlit area to showcase plants or collectibles.
Bay – Created by mulling three windows at either 30- or 45-degree angles.
Garden Door – Garden doors swing open and can be ordered to have one or both doors swing in or out.

Window Hardware

Lift Rails/Pull Stiles

Operable windows feature color coordinated, easy-to-use lift rails (on hung windows) and pull stiles (on slider windows) that are extruded into the sash for maximum durability over time.

Lift Handles

Some series feature color-matched lift handles. The handles are also available in Dark Bronze, Oil-Rubbed Bronze, Brushed Nickel and Polished Brass.

Crank Handles

Casement windows feature smoothly operating crank handles, allowing the sash to be open to a full 90 degrees.* Crank handles are color-coordinated for an attractive, uniform appearance. Optional folding crank handles and casement nesting handles are available for a streamlined appearance.

*Sashes on casements that are 17 inches or less in width only open to 45 degrees.

Cam Locks

Color-matched cam locks are standard on all windows. For an upscale look, optional Decorum hardware can be selected (see above).

Care & Warranty

Care

Vinyl won't pit, peel or flake over time, but like any surface exposed to outside elements, your windows will get dirty from time to time. Use these instructions to keep your them looking great:

Wash using mild detergent (if necessary) and a soft cloth or ordinary long-handled, soft-bristle brush. Do not wash them with a high-pressure spray. The extreme pressure could crack or destroy the caulking around the window or door.
For difficult-to-remove dirt and stains, use the readily available household cleansers listed on this chart. Follow the manufacturers’ instructions on use of the cleansers.
Do not use liquid grease remover, strong soaps and detergents containing organic solvents or cleansers containing chlorine bleach. These could affect the appearance of the vinyl.

Warranty

After your Simonton windows are installed, register your warranty online or mail in the attached card. Remember to include your order number that is located at the head, sill or jamb of each operable vent or sash. If you have an issue with your Simonton window that needs to be addressed and is covered by your warranty, contact Neville’s. We will evaluate the situation and determine the next course of action. Simonton has a very good customer service center and is always helpful.

When it comes to choosing the best door for you, keep these factors in mind.

√ How has it been stained or painted?

Not all doors have been factory painted. In fact, many premade doors have only been primed and will lose any luster quickly. The best option is for stains to be hand-applied by a professional and then oven-cured for maximum beauty and durability.

√ What is the door's core made up of?

If you are looking to lower your energy bills, find out what is inside the door. A hollow door will not protect your home as well from Wisconsin's extreme temperatures. Doors that have a polyurethane core reduce the energy loss you will experience from a hollow door.

√ How durable are the ball bearing hinges?

For long-lasting use of your entry door, find a door that has heavy-duty ball bearing hinges that will stand the test of time and use.

√ How secure is the door?

Security is of the utmost importance for your household. Check to see what the gauge is of the security plate. A 20-gauge security plate is considered extra strong and will help prevent kick-ins.

√ Is the wood frame rot-resistant?

If you decide that you'd like a wood door, find out what is protecting the wood against weather elements such as rain and moisture and what type of warranty comes with it.

√ What other features keep energy from escaping your home?

Ask for other features that will make your door as airtight as possible. Dust boxes in the deadbolt strike provide a barrier to air infiltration while maintaining a neat appearance. To keep moisture, air and dirt out of your home, a secure weather-stripping should run along the top and sides of the door. Choosing a door with a heavy-duty threshold and thermal barrier riser will provide energy efficiency and will protect against warping and rotting.
